Panasonic has officially announced its new LUMIX DMC-GF3 which is the smallest and lightest digital camera with interchangeable lens with built-in flash for the company. It comes with all the standards of the Micro Four Thirds system in an ultra compact and lightweight body that is 16.7% smaller and 16.2% lighter than the previous model, the LUMIX GF2. Hardware and spec-wise it comes with a 12.1-megapixel Live MOS sensor, the Venus Engine FHD image processor with a revised noise reduction technology which enables the capture of low noise images even within a low-light room. It features a Contrast AF focus system that locks in approximately 0.18 seconds and an extremely fast AF which measures at approximately 0.1 seconds as well as the Pinpoint AF function that allows an even more precise focus setting. The Panasonic LUMIX DMC-GF3 also features an Intelligent ISO Control, Intelligent Scene Selector, AF Tracking, a highly-efficient Dust Reduction System, Intelligent Resolution and it also records Full HD videos with a 1920×1080 resolution.
It is compatible with Micro Four Thirds lenses, there is a large 3-inch touchscreen display with an intuitive touch control interface as well as a mini HDMI output. The Panasonic LUMIX GF3 will be available in black, white, red, pink and brown bodies for $699.99 with the 14mm lens kit system starting in July while there will be a 14-42mm lens kit system coming in August for the price of $599.99.
