OWC intros its new Mercury Extreme Pro 6G SSD that comes in a 2.5-inch form factor and is based on SandForce’s second-generation SF-2281 controller. According to the company the Extreme Pro 6G is the fastest SSD on the market delivering a maximum read speed of 559MB/s and a maximum writing speed of 515MB/s. The drive utilizes a SATA 6Gb/s interface, a full 16 Channel16-channel interface and 2xnm MLC NAND Flash memory. It also features SandForce DuraWrite and RAISE technologies and also offers TRIM support for Windows 7. The OWC Mercury Extreme Pro 6G SSD is available in three different models, 40GB for $579.99 and the 480GB for $1,799.99 which can both be pre-ordered while there is a 120GB model presently available for $319.99.
