Jeep just took the vail off the world’s most powerful and fastest SUV to date, the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. It might look like a beauty on the outside but features face wrenching specifications under the hood.
As the world’s fastest SUV, the Trackhawk is capable of achieving 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds, covering a quarter of a mile in 11.6 seconds and a top speed of 180 mph.
The premium SUV is powered by a 707bhp supercharged 6.2-litre, HEMI V8 engine from Hellcat. This Dodge engine is capable of producing 645 lb ft of torque thus giving the SUV sportscar-like power.
In addition to its supercharged engine, there’s an eight-speed automatic transmission. Jeep also fitted the Trackhawk with the largest-ever front brakes fitted to a Jeep. It comprises of 400mm two-piece vented rotors with six-piston yellow calipers from Brembo which delivers impressive stopping power from 180mph.
“Long recognised as the full-size SUV capability leader, Jeep Grand Cherokee is now the most powerful and quickest SUV as well, with the introduction of our new 527kW Trackhawk,” said Mike Manley, Head of Jeep Brand – FCA Global.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk will go on sale in America at the end of 2017, before arriving in New Zealand in 2018.
