Alltel step out of the box as the first wireless carrier in the United States to announced that its customers will be getting the newly announced HTC Merge CDMA capable Android Smartphone. The Merge also comes with a GSM radio which enables the handset to roam globally and we should hear of it popping up on different carriers globally. Specwise, the Merge runs the Android 2.2 Froyo OS, there is a 3.8-inch touchscreen display, it has a 5-megapixel camera with 720p HD video recording and a side-sliding QWERTY keyboard.
Alltel customers can start to pre-order the HTC Merge on March 28th for a price of $124.99 after rebates. There is no word on when Alltel will start shipping the device to customers. Stayed tuned
