Hercules has added new units to its eCAFE line of Netbooks, there were two new units added and they are called the Hercules eCAFE Slim HD and eCAFE EX HD Netbooks. The company is claiming that both new netbooks will boast the best battery life of all other netbooks on the market. Specs-wise, they both feature 10.1-inch backlit LED displays with 1024×600 resolution with the power of an ARM Cortex-A8 Freescale processor with 512MB of RAM. The company decide not go with SSD or hard drives for storage, instead the equipped the netbooks with Flash iNand memory, the eCAFE Slim HD will be available with 8GB of storage while the eCAFE EX HD gets 16GB of storage as they combined 8GB Flash iNand and a 8GB SDHC memory card included.
Other standard specs includes chiclet keyboard with flat and separated keys, their screens can be folded into the body for better screen protection, WiFi 802.11b-g-n, LAN connectivity, three USB 2.0 ports, mini USB port, headphone and microphone jacks and integrated memory card reader which enables the devices storage capabilities to be extended up to 72GB. They both run eCAFÉTM Netbook Edition Operating System (Linux) and a battery life that delivers up to 13 hours of operation on a single charge.
The Hercules eCAFE EX HD Netbook that is above, comes with an HDMI port which enables the user connectivity to their HDTVs at home. Both the eCAFE Slim HD and eCAFE EX HD are expected to hit the market in April and will be priced at $229 and $269, respectively.
