Getac has announced its new X500 Rugged Notebook that packs the power of Intel’s 2nd generation Sandy Bridge Processor thus making it the fastest rugged notebook from Getac. It comes with the option of an Intel Core i5-520M or i7-620M processor, 320GB hard drive or 160GB solid state drive storage, Intel integrated graphics or an Nvidia GeForce GT 330M with 512MB VRAM and up to 8GB of RAM. It comes with a rugged design that was constructed using magnesium alloy that is really durable and resistant to shocks, water and dust as well, the company also claims that it will work in environments where there are flammable and explosive materials present. Some buzzworthy specifications that wasn’t listed above includes a Gigabit Ethernet port, a fingerprint reader for added security, an ExpressCard slot, optional GPS and 3G connectivity, Bluetooth 2.1 and WiFi 802.11b/g/n.
The Getac X500 Sandy Bridge Rugged Notebook PC gets a 15.6-inch LED-backlit display with a 1366×768 pixel resolution and a 1000 NIT brightness. Thanks to its magnesium alloy case the device is MIL-STD-810G, MIL-STD 461F and IP65 compliant plus there are sealed I/O caps and doors to prevent damage from solid particles and moisture. It comes pre-loaded with Windows 7 but there are no pricing details listed on their website at the moment.
