Along with yesterday’s announcement of the new BlackBerry Bold 9650, RIM also unveiled its new BlackBerry Pearl 3G Smartphone also known as the Pearl 2 or Pearl 9100 Series. The new Blackberry Pearl 3G gets a 624Mhz processor, 256MB of onboard storage and runs the new BlackBerry OS 5.
The BlackBerry Pearl 3G comes in two different models, the 9100 model with a 20-key condensed QWERTY keyboard and the 9105 model with a 14-key traditional phone keyboard, both phones includes Blackberry’s SureType software. There is a 360×400 display, a much advanced camera than the Pearl 8100 Series, it gets 3.2 megapixels, autofocus with flash plus the ability to do video recordings, no more trackball it gets an optical trackpad, built-in GPS with BlackBerry Maps and a microSD/SDHC card slot for cards up to 32GB.
The Pearl 3G supports tri-band UMTS/HSDPA and quad-band GSM/EDGE networks as well as WiFi 802.11b/n/n and Bluetooth connectivity.
