AMD recently announced its new ATI FirePro V8800 GPU which is targeted at users who work with large data sets or shader-intensive applications and who demand high-end computational power and the superior visual flexibility. The FirePro V8800 GPU supports DirectX 11 (or OpenGL 4.0) features as the Radeon HD 5000 series, but with workstation-optimized hardware and software. There is also support for hardware tessellation and the core is capable of handling 2.6 teraflops of computing power.
The AMD ATI FirePro V8800 GPU has 2GB of GDDR5 RAM along with 1,600 stream cores. It uses ATI Eyefinity technology which supports multiple displays with a max resolution of 2560×1600 at 60Hz, must be using Windows 7, Windows Vista, or Linux if planning to support two displays. It uses PCI Express 2.0 x16 interface and is priced at approximately $1,499.
