Western Digital announced their first 2 terabyte (TB) hard disk drive just two days ago making history and the highest storage capacity hard drive on the market.

The new Western Digital, the WD20EADS is the newest member to their Caviar Green line of hard drives. The WD Caviar Green drives use less power and support quieter, cooler-running desktop PCs and external storage devices.

The new drives comes in a starndard 3.5″ form factor with SATA 3.0Gb/s interface, 32MB cache / 16MB cache, 2TB/1.5TB or 1TB. The WD20EADS which is the 2TB version will be retailed for $299.
