OCZ Technology has unveiled its new Vertex 3 line of Solid State Drives which the company is calling the Max IOPS edition. The new series still has a SATA 6.0 Gbps interface and utlizes a SandForce SF-2200 controller, it comes with an improved write performance, a 4KB random write performance with up to 75,000 IOPS which is a great upgrade from the regular Vertex 3 that only delivers 60,000 IOPS. The Vertex 3 Max IOPS edition will be available in 120GB and 240GB models, they also support Windows 7 TRIM and according to the company’s CEO, Ryan Petersen: “Vertex 3 Max IOPS drives increase random write performance, and are the ideal storage solution for applications that require high aggregate workloads and increased IO throughput.” Both models are presently up for pre-orders at $296.99 and $556.99, respectively.

OCZ Technology has once again announced another set of SSDs from its Vertex Series. There is the OCZ Vertex 3 and Vertex 3 Pro Both series uses SATA III interface to deliver double the performance of previously launched SSDs including the Vertex 2 Series. The Vertex 3 is considered ideal for everyday consumers and is based on 2Xnm MLC NAND flash technology, it utilizes the new SandForce SF-2200 SSD processor which will deliver transfer speeds of up to 550MB/s read and 500MB/s write. It will be available in the storage capacities of 120GB and 240GB plus a 60,000 IOPS (4k random write). The Vertex Pro 3 on the other hand is ideal for enterprise use and comes in the storage capacities of 100, 200 and 400GB models, it packs the power of the SandForce SF-2500 SSD SATA III processor and is also based onenterprise-grade MLC NAND flash.

Both the OCZ Vertex 3 and Vertex 3 Pro are both 2.5-inch drives and supports the Windows 7 TRIM function that could extend the lifespan of the Drives.

In addition to the Colossus Lite Series Solid State Drive, OCZ also announced the new Vertex 2 and Agility 2 series solid state drives. These two new drives are 2.5-inch and are based on MLC, they both uses SATA II interface and are available in 50GB, 100GB, 200GB capacities.

The difference between the two is that the Vertex 2 features 4KB random writes up to 50,000 IOPS and transfer rates up to 285MB/s read and 275MB/s write while the Agility 2 is more affordable and offers the same transfer rate and 4KB random writes up to 10,000 IOPS. Both of them support Windows 7 TRIM command.
