Samsung is planning to launch its Story Station 3.5-inch external hard drive sometime in November. The Samsung Story Station is the industry’s first to have standby power consumption below a watt, meeting the requirements for the forthcoming European Union’s EuP (Energy Using Products) Directive for Standby Regulation, effective January 2010.

The Story Station will be available in 500GB to 2TB Storage Capacities and uses just 0.09W at standby. With the Samsung Story Station there are softwares included such as SecretZone software for personal data encryption, Samsung’s Auto Backup and SafetyKey for password protection.
