Kyocera Solar Panels on the new Toyota Prius

Toyota will be offering their new Prius with an option to add on Polycrystalline Si Solar cells to the top of the vehicle. The Cells are made by Kyocera Corp. in Japan, All the Solar Cell generated electricity will run the vehicle’s ventilation fan plus customers also has a choice of adding a solar panel moon roof for an addition $2,076.

Toyota has certified that these new solar cells are durable and tough. Each cell will be half the size of a standard 15 x 15cm cell and boast a cell conversion efficiency of 16.5% and delivers a max output of fifty-odd watts for the entire panel. The panel consist of three dozen cells which are arranged six rows with each row having equal amount of cells.
