Freescale Smartbook Tablet Design
Freescale Semiconductor has unveiled the future of the smartbook category with a tablet reference design. It features a 7-inch touchscreen display with a 1024 x 600 pixel resolution. It is based on Freescale’s highly integrated i.MX515 processor incorporating ARM Cortex-A8 Processor, there is Freescale’s MC13892 power management IC, SGTL5000 audio codec and MMA8450Q 3-axis accelerometer.

The design is the first platform in Freescale’s Smart Application Blueprint for Rapid Engineering (SABRE) series. It features a 512MB of DDR2 memory, 4-64GB internal storage, support for microSD cards, a 3 megapixel camera with the ability to record VGA videos at 30fps, 3G modem, optional WiFi 802.11 b/g/n connectivity, Bluetooth 2.1, GPS navigation, 1900mAh battery, USB 2.0 and USB mini.

The tablet is presently being demonstrated at the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show running both the Android and Linux operating systems.
