Mozilla has unveiled its very first FireFox smartphone that was developed specially for developers to preview their new FireFox operating system on. The new FireFox smartphone comes equipped with a 3.5-inch HVGA touchscreen display and powered by a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S1 processor which is accompanied by 512MB of RAM and 4GB of built-in storage space.
The FireFox Smartphone is an entry-level device which is understandable since its sole purpose is to run the new mobile operating system from Mozilla. It comes with a 3-megapixel camera and also wireless connectivity options. The Mozilla Firefox OS is based on open standards and is open source meaning that developers are in full control of their applications and methods of distribution.
Mozilla noted that the new mobile operating system, FireFox OS is still basic at the moment, but Mozilla says that it will continually update with over-the-air updates. No pricing or worldwide availability has been released as yet by Mozilla for their new FireFox Smartphone for developers, but we’ll keep you updated.
