Seagate Technology has expanded its line of storage device with the new Backup Plus USB 3.0 Portable Storage that was designed and developed specially for Mac computers. The new Backup Plus USB 3.0 storage utilizes a Super Speed USB 3.0 connection for faster data transfer (up to 10 times faster than the previous version) plus it is also backward-compatible with earlier USB 2.0 ports.
The Storage device for Mac can be used with TimeMachine or simply transferring a file from a computer to external storage. In the press release, the company explained that “Backup Plus for Mac will now provide a USB 3.0 cable out of the box and can be upgraded to Thunderbolt™ Technology or FireWire 800, as the need presents itself.”
Seagate Backup Plus Portable drives are now available for purchase via online retailers such as Amazon in the storage capacities of 500GB for $110, 1TB for $130, and as Backup Plus Desktop drives providing 2TB of storage for $130 and 3TB for $180.
