Apple officially announced the third-generation iPad tablet today, the tablet which was once thought to be called the iPad 3 / iPad HD comes in the press release as, iPad. The new iPad comes packing a powerful CPU, a new high resolution display and support for 4G mobile network.
Apple kept the screen size at 9.7-inch, but gave the device a Retina display with 2048×1536 ultra-high resolution IPS multitouch touchscreen with 264ppi pixel density. The new iPad is powered by a dual-core Apple A5X SoC with quad-core graphics for greater power and speed, it features a 5-Megapixel iSight camera with autofocus, IR filter, video stabilization, face detection and geotagging. The iPad is also capable of recording Full HD videos and playback HD videos as well, it has the ability to stream full HD videos to the new Apple TV 3 gen using AirPlay, and 720p AirPlay Mirroring.
The device comes pre-loaded with Apple’s new iOS 5.1., and will be available in six options; WiFi-only model from 16GB – 64GB and WiFi+4G models ranging from 16GB – 64GB. The WiFi+4G models will support LTE 700/2100MHz 4G network as well as quad-band UTMS 3G, HSPA+ and DC-HSDPA and quad-band GSM/EDGE networks. There will also be a model specially for Verizon and other world markets that supports CDMA EVDO Rev.A 3G network.
Other features includes Bluetooth 4.0 with Bluetooth Smart, digital compass, Accelerometer, gyroscope and GPS/AGPS in the WiFi+4G models. Apple will ship the new iPad on 16 March in the US, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Puerto Rico, Singapore, Switzerland, UK and the US Virgin Islands, and is now accepting pre-orders. The device will be offered in the color options of black and white, prices are listed below.
