A version version of Sony’s PlayStation 3 Hardware was released yesterday. The new hardware comes with an improved RSX graphics chip based on 45 nano-meter process technology, instead of the previous 65 nano-meter technology and uses 15% less power to operate than the previous model.
The new model which goes by the model name CECH-2100A also has a much lighter power supply which weighs up to 30g less with the cooling unit getting a reduction in weight and size, as well and a number of adjoining chips around the RSX have been removed. With the new hardware, the infamous “yellow light of death” risk will be reduced. This may also seeing the new model of the Playstation 3 getting a price cut since it will cost Sony less to manufacture.
