Samsung announced its first internal Blu-ray combo drive dubbed the Samsung SH-B083. The Samsung SH-B083 will hit the market in November and has a 8x read speeds for BD-R and BD-ROMs, unlike the Plextor PX-B940SA which offers 12x.
The Samsung SHB083 also writes on DVD+/-R/RW/R DL at up to 12X, DVD-RAM at 5X and CD-R/RW at 40X. It has a read speed of 16X for DVD and 40X for CD plus there is a 2MB buffer memory and it uses a SATA connection interface. The drive also boasts an average access speed of 350ms thanks to its fast dual layer jumping algorithm, which is much faster than any other drive on the market today.
